Harris Trust

Harris Trust became a registered charity in March 2021 Our aims are to: 1/ Raise awareness and provide training around neurodiversity and mental health 2/ Assist the provision of music and sporting activities and peer support 3/ Promote respect, acceptance and a sense of belonging We have run successful music projects at Selkirk High Schools for junior and senior students in 2022/23 led by young adults, some of whom are neurodivergent. We intend to expand the music programme into 4 High Schools for the 2023/2024 session We are starting a pilot of Autism Friendly Rugby Sessions at Selkirk RFC for children age 7-11 years on 30th April We have strong links with the Neurodiversity Research Team at Edinburgh University and are currently working alongside Scottish Borders Council and Education staff to increase awareness and training around neurodiversity for schools.

Heroes of Gamenight

Heroes of Gamenight are a Community Interest Company, based in the Scottish Borders, and our purpose is to build community around play. We aim to complement the great range of outdoor activities our region offers to young people, with various clubs and events that bring folk together in safe, welcoming, indoor spaces. The games we play offer attendees a chance to have fun, develop useful skills and build relationships with people in their locality.

Innov8 – Newcastleton Youth Project

Drop in service- open 2 nights per week giving young people a safe, warm space to socialise and take part in activities. They cover the Newcastleton and district area and support young people from 11-18. They use a young person centred approach and ensure the young people are at the forefront of any decisions within the Youth project.

Jedburgh Amateur Dramatic Society

The group was formed in 2024 to stage Jedburgh’s first pantomime in January 2025 (but its ambition has expanded to other productions). We will be meeting and rehearsing weekly to encourage an interest in community arts, music, drama, performance and the supporting skills including animation, art, lighting, sound, video and construction.

KICC are a cycling club in in the Scottish Borders offering led cycle rides, bike packing, young leadership training and forest skills. Cycling can be many things to many people and they try to spark enthusiasm for the outdoors from a young age.

Langlee Youth Club is a weekly youth club based at the Langlee Community Centre in Galashiels for young people aged 8 to the end of Primary 6. They offer a fun, safe, friendly space for young people to meet their friends and take part in positive community activities.

LGBT Youth Scotland – Involved

Involved is the LGBT Youth Scotland Youth group in the Scottish Borders for all LGBTQIA+ young people aged 13-25. We can also take referrals / self referrals for 1 to 1 conversations. We can work with schools and other youth-based organisations to support their LGBTQ+ offering and learning.

Live Learn Earn (R-evolve)

Live Learn Earn deliver alternative education opportunities to those ‘hardest to reach’ young people through the provision of training and skills, focusing on those relating to bike rebuilding, repair and metalwork, with the aim of increasing employment prospects for young people, particularly those most disadvantaged in the jobs’ market.
