Moving Images Cinema is a self-contained cinema travelling around the South of Scotland and beyond screening cutting-edge, non-mainstream films to rural and urban communities, schools, youth groups and festivals. An 8-seater cinema in a converted 1980s Swift Pirouette caravan completely stripped out, re-panelled, waterproofed and lovingly turned into a unique red and black cinema space to watch films. With a full HD screen and projector, stereo sound and chairs with comfy velvet cushions it is now a space to immerse yourself in films that inspire and spark discussion. Moving Images is completely self-sustained running on solar power.
Our activities with Youth groups aim to introduce themes of global and local youth identities. We also are interested in themes of climate change and justice and climate action. Moving Images also hope to offer filmmaking workshops for small groups of young people at Scottish Border yOuth Groups. We are able to meet young people ‘where they are’ by taking the caravan to the group meeting place. We are currently running a pilot project working with three youth clubs and have plans to expand this across the borders.
